B is for baseball, bonfire, & Bees

Last weekend was fun:

Saturday afternoon we went to one of Matt's (Scott's nephew) last baseball games of the season. The weather was great.

Matt's a good little pitcher, and he knows it. :)

Can you tell how amazingly dirty Matt's uniform is? He says it's good luck. Um, Matt. I hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure it didn't work.

Saturday evening we had a bonfire and wienie roast up the canyon with good friends from our old singles ward.

Scott actually almost smiled for this picture.

On Monday night, we went to a Bees game with my friend Candace and some of her kids. It was a little rainy, but we stayed dry and had fun.

busy weekend

Last weekend was pretty busy for us. My sister Melissa and her fam were up from St. George, so we spent Friday night hanging out with them and the rest of the fam at my parents' house. I didn't get any pics of them, and I also didn't get any pics of the family bridal shower we had for my sister Jana on Saturday. Saturday afternoon, Scott and I finally planted our balcony garden. I'm purposely not going to post any pictures of that because I plan to convince Scott to blog about it. Sunday was busy with family stuff. And Memorial Day was super long but fun. I attended my first ever door buster at RCWilley in order to get a great deal on some couches. I was super surprised that Scott got right up to go with me at 6:45am. Good times. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking (at least most of it):

Monday afternoon, we had a picnic with my family. Faith was pretty daring on her scooter.

Later Monday afternoon, we went to Diana and Sam's to "help" them with their remodeling. Turns out we were all pretty wimpy at tearing down drywall.

Let me tell ya--I did some *real* damage to that wall.

Diana and I went swimming, and then we had a BBQ with the Carter clan on Di and Sam's patio.

John the hairdresser put the amazing Bump-It in my hair. Looks like Sam wanted to eat it.

Monday night, we gave our old couches to a lady in our ward. The love seat wasn't looking too bad.

But the couch was hideous--broken and sagging almost to the floor. I tried to convince the lady that she didn't want it, but she obviously wasn't very picky. We were just grateful that she took them off our hands.

Monday night Sam and Diana helped us pick up our couches from RCWilley. We were going for cheap and sturdy, but they also look way better than our old couches.

I'm even getting used to the weird built-in side pillows. They actually come in pretty handy. And Diana has agreed to help me make new covers for some throw pillows. We'll see how that goes...

We ended the weekend by having Diana and Sam help us pick up a huge storage cabinet for our kitchen. But that's a story for another post...

Yay for fun, busy weekends!

I am SO in love!

Scott and I spent last Saturday evening going to several stores to price cribs, gliders, and other baby furniture. And we actually had a good time. Babies R Us had the most expensive baby furniture, but they also had the cutest crib bedding. When I saw the following sports-themed bedding...


...it was love at first sight. The picture does not do it justice. Most of the material is corduroy. And the colors are way cuter in person. So Scott and I had a little discussion. The six piece crib bedding (including this quilt, a crib bumper, dust ruffle, fitted sheet, diaper stacker, and valance) cost $190, but it was on sale for 20% off. Just $152 and well worth it in my opinion. So I went to ask the salesperson about their return policy, and she said we could return it within 90 days--just 15 days (give or take) after we find out the sex of our baby. So we bought it--along with an extra crib sheet, some matching wall decor, and an adorable mobile.

So now if we find out we're having a boy, we're all set. And if we're having a girl, we can just return the bedding and buy something else. Or keep it and have a tomboy baby girl. I don't hate that idea, but I'm pretty sure Scott does. Scott also thinks we jinxed ourselves into having a girl the minute we made this purchase, but I'm pretty sure the sex of our baby was determined back on April Fool's Day. :)

Ayway, I've been very happy with my new love--the crib bedding. I like to take it out to look at it from time to time--okay daily. It's just so cute.

But then yesterday I realized that I'm not truly in love with it. Yes, I do still love it and hope to keep it. But I've found a new love--a true love.

I'm totally, completely, insanely in love with...

...our adorable baby. We had an ultrasound yesterday. You can see his/her arms and legs poking out the sides. The cutest thing ever was watching our baby move his/her arms around as if to throw a few punches. We just might have a feisty kid on our hands. :)

And this is our baby's little heartbeat. It was awesome to get to both see and hear his/her cute little heart beating. Amazing!

Scott and I are both madly in love. This baby has definitely stolen our hearts already.

**And in case you're wondering, yesterday our fertility doctor found that the blood in my uterus has dissolved. Yay! I can exercise again and hopefully stop worrying. It was bittersweet to say good-bye to our amazing doctors and nurses at the Utah Fertility Clinic. We will miss their wonderful care and compassion. But deep down, we hope we never have to see them again. This morning I had my first appointment with my new ob/gyn. It was pretty strange to finally feel like I fit in at the ob/gyn office. It's all still a little surreal, but it's becoming more and more real all the time. I am SO blessed.

BYU Baseball

Well, since Scott has yet to be motivated to post, I'm just gonna do it myself.

Scott and I only made it to 4 BYU baseball games this season due to conflicts in our schedule as well as the yucky Spring weather we have had. Turns out Scott's not a big fan of watching baseball in the snow. Go figure. Here are some pictures of BYU's last home game this past Tuesday. Scott actually wanted to brave the rain. Way good times.

It wasn't raining when we first arrived, but our seats were very wet. Thank you to the nice, well-prepared guy that let us borrow his towel to wipe them off.

Scott would only agree to one try at a group self-shot (with our friend Jen). I'm pretty sure he wasn't thrilled with the result.

This is my favorite BYU player, Sean McNaughton. I do like the fact that he hits well, but my favorite thing about him is the song that plays every time he comes up to bat--"My Life Be Like Ooh Ah, Oo-ooh." I have no idea who sings it, but it makes my day!

And last but not least, the reason for my deep love of the Cubs--Vance Law. He is now the head coach for BYU, but he used to play 3rd base for the Cubs back on that fateful day when I fainted in church and ended up watching my first Cubs game. I love Vance!

My only regret is that we never got a picture of us in our rain ponchos later in the game.

Here's to lots more baseball all Summer! I can't wait for the Orem Owlz to start their season next month! Whoo whoo!

Scott's turn

I just checked to see how long it's been since Scott posted on our blog. His last post was on November 20th of last year. It's been WAY too long!

**And for those of you who haven't heard, the doctor found some minor bleeding in my uterus. He said it isn't unusual, and he didn't seem worried. But he told me not to exercise for a couple of weeks, and he thinks the bleeding will resolve itself. Please pray that it does. Thanks!

Clayson chaos

This past weekend, my sister Melissa and her fam were up here from St. George because my brother-in-law had a race. We took the opportunity to have some fun family times. It wasn't until we had 6 adults and 7 kids hanging out in our condo for several hours that the totally fun chaos began...

On Saturday morning we waited for the race to end under the shelter of this tree. It was super cold, but the kids still played in the wet bounce house.

Cole developed a quick love for the harmonica. And Katelyn is just adorable.

It was great to spend time with so much of my family. And then Scott and I were happy to keep Faith, Cole, and Clay overnight. I loved taking them to church with us, even though Faith spilled the beans about me being pregnant to her Primary class. Totally funny! Faith, Cole, and Clay helped me make cookies Sunday afternoon. Then we enjoyed dinner at my parents' house, and the kids put on an amazing show afterward. If you've never seen one of their shows, you're totally missing out. :)
