Carter Camping

This past weekend, we had a great time camping at Moon Lake with some of Scott's family. We didn't do the backpacking thing this year due to my being pregnant, but we still had fun.

Scott and I ate huge, delicious tin foil dinners. I ate the whole thing and regretted it later that night. I think Scott regretted it too...

We played Scum for awhile in the big tent.

And then a few of us continued playing in Scott's and my "fun" tent. Sam and Matt apparently couldn't handle my flash. Weirdies.

The next morning, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery...

Sam and Di rented a paddle boat.

And we took turns being chauffeured around the lake, trying to catch a fish.

Moon Lake was beautiful.

And the weather was perfect, unlike last year at Jewel Lake (think rain, hail, and snow).

Matt was the only one to actually catch a fish. Scott's got away.

Here's a pic of me in all my pregnant glory. My belly has really started sticking out these past few days. And I'm okay with that.

It was a fun weekend!

This weekend...

...We enjoyed a sleepover with my niece and nephews, as well as several Salem Days festivities with my fam.

Faith, Cole, and Clay always have fun swimming in our pool.

We played a few games with the kiddos. This is their favorite--good ol' Mouse Trap.

We made snow cones and then went outside to try to see the meteor shower. I saw something that looked like a shooting star, and Clay claimed he saw several meteors. :) The kids then picked out "A Christmas Story" to watch. Love it.

The next morning, after a free Salem Days breakfast, we went to the parade with my fam.

It's the best parade ever. It lasts less than an hour, and you get buckets full of candy and other goodies. Scott was especially excited about the otter pops.

After an afternoon of crib bedding hunting and temple-going, Scott and I headed back to Salem for the fabulous fireworks. Scott was impressed that such a small town could pull off such a great show. Sorry no pics. Just imagine your chest going "boom!" :)

Last weekend...

..My sister Jana got married. The kids were absolutely adorable walking down the aisle. Too bad I didn't get any pics of that.

Two weekends ago...

...We went on a road trip to Colorado with Scott's sister Diana and her husband Sam. We stayed with Scott's other sister Sandy and her husband Jacob. We had a fabulous time with everyone. And, of course, we enjoyed a Cubs/Rockies game.

After an entertaining morning on sporcle.com, we headed to Big City Burrito for some delicious potato burritos.

Sam got the gut-buster burrito. He's kind of a pig. :)

After an afternoon of playing Clue and Finca, we headed to the Cubs game with Sam and Di.

Then we played a late-night game of Museum Caper--a weirdy Carter favorite.

Sunday we made it to most of church with Sandy and Jacob, and then we headed home. Thanks for all the yummy food, Sandy and Jacob! And thanks for the car entertainment and candy, Di and Sam! We love what we hope is becoming our yearly tradition!

It's a...

GIRL!!!

This is her cute little face. :)

I called my family right away, and then we headed to Scott's parents' house to make snow cones for everyone. Blue for boy or pink/red for girl. The vote was split. Then Scott and I came around the corner with our pink snow cones. Yay!

Our baby girl is healthy and very active. We can't wait for her to arrive just in time to be our best Christmas present ever!!

Last chance

You only have 3 days left to vote for whether or not you think Scott and I are having a girl or a boy. We have an ultrasound scheduled for this Thursday afternoon, and we definitely want to find out what we are having. Right now the boy vote is edging out the girl vote 18-16. However, a certain person (whose name starts with "S" and ends with "cott") voted for a boy on every computer in his office, so the vote is really more like 16-14 (favoring us having a girl).

Scott wants a boy because he thinks the oldest should be a boy. I have always thought that I wanted a boy first because I always wanted an older brother (or any brother for that matter). But now I really don't care what we have. When we first started our infertility testing and treatments about 2 years ago, I always imagined that we would have a girl first. But I figured I was probably just thinking this because I didn't want to be disappointed if I didn't have a boy first. Then I got pregnant, and I didn't really have an opinion on the matter. I was just so excited to have any baby. Then I saw our baby throwing punches at our 10-week ultrasound, and I assumed it must be a boy. Since then, I have had 2 dreams in which we were having a girl. So now I think we are having a girl. And this time it's because I really want a girl. But I also really want a boy. In other words, I truly don't care. I just want a healthy baby--preferably cute and chubby. :)

And in case you were wondering, our last ob/gyn appointment almost 2 weeks ago went really well. My childhood bishop is just as fabulous as I remember him. What a relief!

24th of July

Scott and I had a fabulous 24th of July. We started the festivities early by having my niece and nephews sleep over Friday night. I failed to get any pictures of us swimming, making snow cones, or enjoying the Owlz baseball game. But I did get pictures of this...

Faith and Cole were mesmerized too. I don't know if you realize how happy and proud this makes me. :) Also, notice that Cole made his "bed" on top of the coffee table. Funny!

Saturday, we took the kids to join the rest of my family at the parade in Spanish Fork.

Adorable, Dora-loving Katelyn showing me her sucker. Her hand has done some miraculous healing. The week before, the doctors were thinking she would need skin grafts, and here she is not even needing her bandages anymore. What a blessing!

We had a BBQ lunch with my family, and then we had another BBQ with Scott's fam for dinner.

We did sparklers and fireworks with Scott's nieces and nephews--Matt, Josh, Lauren, and Megan. For the record, Lauren's braver than Megan. :)

Then we headed to the infamous "Cud-de-sac of Fire" near Sam's childhood home.

The fireworks were fun, but I especially enjoyed the background music.

Scott and I ended our Pioneer Day festivities by watching the movie "The Parent Trap." We were totally inspired by the song "Let's Get Together" being played during the fireworks. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
