mini family reunion

Last week, Hannah had a blast with all of her Clayson cousins and aunts in town...

We went to 7 Peaks for Hannah's first time and my first time in like 18 years. Hannah looked cute in her new swimsuit from Grandma Clayson. I can't wait to see her baby sister in her matching swimsuit. :)

My mom was great to keep watch over everyone's valuables, in addition to hosting the week's mini family reunion.

Hannah had a blast in the wave pool with Sierra.

But her favorite spot was riding this alligator that she insisted was a dinosaur. Silly girl.

A group hug with Sierra and Katelyn before we left.

Grandma took us all bowling one day. Mini-Mary Ann looked super cute in her bowling shoes.

Hannah had so much fun pushing her pink ball down the kid ramp, and she smoked us all with a 130!

 The whole gang bowling.

Hannah had a great time hanging out at home with the Reyelts fam one morning.

Our last outing with the fam was at the splash park in Spanish Fork. Hannah loved running around while her daddy chased after her and occasionally getting a little wet.

Hannah with most of her cousins and her daddy (the Reyelts fam had already gone home).

One last silly cousin pic. :)

Hannah seriously loved spending so much time with her cousins, and they were all so fun and patient with her. Not pictured are several other outings that we enjoyed with everyone--Trafalga in Lehi (Hannah LOVED the bumper boats and the mini tidal wave ride), Clay's baseball game, and a sleepover for Hannah with her girl cousins while I enjoyed a girls night out with friends and Scott enjoyed a guys night out. The only non-fun thing about the week was that I was experiencing major insomnia and didn't sleep a wink 3 of those nights (two of which were in a row). I was absolutely exhausted, so the extra help with Hannah was even more appreciated. It sure was an exhausting, super-fun week!

Update on the baby: She is still head-down, so we are good to go anytime!

Prepping to nest and Playing

These past two weekends we have done a bit of prepping for our baby to come, as well as playing with family. We haven't gotten around to the actual nesting yet, but we are getting our home more clean and organized so that we can start nesting soon.

Last weekend, in the midst of taking Hannah to Trafalga and the park, having lunch with some mission friends, and celebrating Memorial Day with family, I was able to get our spare bedroom/office clean and organized. Let me tell you, it was no small feat. That room has been greatly neglected since Hannah was born and had basically become a catch-all for everything we either didn't want to deal with or didn't want Hannah to get into. We were incredibly behind in our shredding, filing, and dusting. I spent hours and hours, including two very late nights, to get everything clean and organized. It feels really good to have it done, although we ended up filling up the room again with all the baby stuff we got out of Diana and Sam's attic. Nesting projects galore!

Here are a couple of pics of our Memorial Day festivities...

After breakfast and some weeding at my grandma's house, we headed to the cemetery with our extended family to visit my grandpa's grave. Hannah loved the Meservy bench there.

After Grandma shared some stories and words of wisdom, our family went back to her house for a picnic lunch. It was all a lot of fun.

I didn't get any pics of our delicious BBQ dinner with Scott's side of the family. Surprise, surprise. :)

This past weekend we didn't get quite as much nest-prepping done, although I was able to work on a couple of small projects. We spent most of the weekend hanging out with my family because my sister Melissa is in town with her fam. It has been a fun weekend for sure.

Hannah's first swim of the year was with a bunch of her cousins. After she warmed up to the idea, she had a blast!

Hannah looked adorable in her new swimsuit from her grandma Clayson.

We forgot to get swim diapers, so Hannah ended up with quite the ghetto booty. :)

Hannah enjoyed Trafalga even more than usual with all her cousins, aunts, and grandparents. She especially loved that everyone had a "pretty stamp" just like hers. :)

Cutie Hannah in my childhood shirt. Love my mini-Mary Ann! :)

Hopefully we will get some real nesting done in the midst of all our Summer fun. We found out on Friday that our baby is no longer breech, so I will be able to try a VBAC if I go into labor on my own. Yay! We should have a new baby in 4 weeks or less! Crazy-awesome!

cousin time

Hannah spent a lot of quality time with her cousins last weekend...

On Friday we watched Brinton for the last time this school year.

Cute little cuddly cousins!

On Friday night we went to a BYU baseball game with Cole, Clay, & Faith. Hannah was IN LOVE with the popcorn.

 Silly Faithy!

Hannah went home early with Scott & Faith. Cole & Clay stayed for the entire rainy game. Fun!

On Saturday morning we went to Trafalga in Lehi to miniature golf. Cole & Clay loved the froggy ride.

Hannah, Faith, & Scott enjoyed watching the boys on the ride.

On Saturday afternoon we attended Brinton's 1st birthday party. Cute, messy big boy!

Hannah really enjoyed her cupcake. She didn't get to finish it, and so all week she has been telling me that she lost her cupcake at Brinton's house. She just said it again when she saw this pic. :)

On Monday we watched Logan for the last time this school year. I forgot to take pics of him and Hannah together, so this is an old one of him from the 5K a few weeks ago.

One last pic of cutie Logan!

Hannah sure loves spending time with all of her cute cousins! And watching her little cousins has been good practice for when we have our own baby here. We hope Hannah loves her baby sister as much as she loves her cousins. :)

Hannah-isms

It's been awhile since I posted any Hannah-isms. So here you go...

Hannah is a wee bit dramatic. She's usually really excited at the prospect of seeing a family member or a friend, but she often acts shy or sad for the first 5-10 minutes she sees them. And then suddenly she's over it and talking up a storm with them. One of Hannah's favorite past-times a couple of months ago (and still occasionally) was/is standing on her stool in the bathroom to watch herself fake-cry in the mirror. So funny.

Hannah sings (or talks) all day.  We often hear her singing first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Lately her favorite songs are "Happy Birthday to (anyone and everyone)," "I love Mommy (or Daddy or every person she's ever met or thing she's ever loved)," and the Dixie Chicks' version of "Landslide." Hannah also loves to make up her own words to songs she already knows, and she often makes up her own songs about what she is doing or what is going on around her. She's usually on key.

Hannah is super friendly in public and says "hi" to everyone she sees at the store. She loves to tell people what we are buying and what she is pretending to eat. She's still a big flirt with the boys. :)

Hannah is very good at saying "thank you" but often needs to be reminded to say "please."

When Hannah first started talking a lot, she would say "I want___________." Now she almost always says "I need _________" or "I'm gonna____________."

Hannah has the best dance moves ever. Lots of hip shaking. And she totally has rhythm.

Hannah has several toy microphones, but she often converts other toys into microphones. She especially loves to prop her broom up over her stack of library books on our coffee table and then belt into it. :)

Hannah is constantly asking what everyone is doing. "What Mommy doing? What Daddy doing? What Hannah doing? What that friend doing (random people are considered friends too)? What those kids doing?" Fortunately, when I turn the question on her, she'll usually answer it herself. But after I've answered what I'm doing and then ask her what she's doing, she almost always answers that she is watching me do whatever I just told her I'm doing.

Hannah also loves asking where everyone and everything is. "Where'd my book go? Where's Daddy? Where's my cousins?" She also loves asking, "What's that noise?" I just can't wait for her questions to turn into "Why?"  :)

Hannah loves to rub my back and "do" my hair, and she's actually pretty gentle and it often feels good. She also likes to stand behind her baby cousins and "do" their hair. They don't seem to like it as much.

Hannah still loves books, imaginative play (with her dolls, animals, kitchen, etc), doing puzzles, playing games (by her rules), and coloring. She's also getting really good at throwing balls. Just ask her aunt Diana how hard she can throw. :)

Hannah is getting braver and braver at parks and playgrounds. Last Summer, by the time she was walking she was still too timid to play much on playgrounds. Now she will climb by herself to the very top and go down long slides. She also has finally decided that she loves swings.

Hannah usually starts conversations with us by saying, "Hey, Mom" or "Hey, Dad." And she has to make sure we have both heard each conversation. It's very common for her to finish a conversation with one of us and then walk a few feet to the other person and say "Hey, Mom (or Dad)" and repeat the entire conversation. Throughout the day, she is constantly saying that she needs to tell her dad things.

Hannah is still obsessed with her cousins, her aunts and uncles, her grandparents, our friends, and Bubble Guppies. She talks about all of you all day long.

Hannah has a great memory. She spends a good portion of her day telling me about things she has done, with many details that I've often forgotten (such as what we ate and every single person who was there). She also recognizes places we have been in the past. A couple weeks after her first trip to a certain restaurant, we drove past it and Hannah pointed it out and told us exactly what she had eaten there.

Hannah's vocabulary has expanded greatly, and she is often saying words that I didn't know she'd ever heard. She sometimes butts into my and Scott's adult conversations with comments and questions that show that she understands everything we've been saying. One day, I told Scott that we would have to take Hannah to the "p-a-r-k" another day because it was too cold, and Hannah immediately piped in saying that she wanted to go to the park that day. I'm not claiming that she can spell or anything. She just understands things in context a little too well for us.

Hannah still loves the alphabet and is starting to learn some of the sounds. She also still likes to count, although she is not nearly as fond of counting to 20 as she was of counting to 10

Hannah apparently has a recurring nightmare about a tiger. Upon waking in the morning, she sometimes tells us about a scary tiger and a girl. And when she hears noises during the day, she tells me that the tiger is coming. I reassure her that it isn't real, and then I coach her on how to assertively tell it to go away and then get help from her mommy and daddy. :)

I'm constantly calling Scott throughout the day to tell him the funny things Hannah has said or done. She knows she is funny and cracks herself up. But her daddy is still the person who gets her to laugh the most and the deepest.

Hannah LOVES the word "really." Everything is "really, really hot" or "really, really dirty." And she often "really, really needs" things at the store. :)

Overall, I think Hannah is like most 2-year-olds--adorable, hilarious, and sometimes completely irrational. But she is also uniquely sweet and kind and loving and a bit sassy. We love her so much!!!

**Sorry no pics. It takes my computer overnight to download them. Totally lame.

Mother's Day & a crazy night

I had a nice Mother's Day. We spent time with both of our families (we love our moms!), and we enjoyed some good food. The best part of the day was just being able to spend time with my sweet daughter Hannah. I took a few pics throughout the weekend...

On Friday night we enjoyed a really good BYU baseball game on a beautiful night with some fabulous friends.

I loved whenever Hannah would suddenly belt out "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."  The people around us seemed to think it was pretty cute too. Scott was at the game with us. See his green shirt?

The only pics I took on Sunday were of Hannah playing in her Carter grandparents' backyard.

She especially loves the slide.

Just cheesin' and chillin' with her aunt Lynda and cousin Josh.

Oh, I also made Scott snap a picture of Hannah and me together once we got home that night. Seems crazy that I'll have another daughter next year.

I sure do love being Hannah's mommy! She is hilarious and adorable and smart and sweet and sassy and everything I could ever want in a child. I often am in awe of how blessed I am to be her mom and to be able spend so much quality time with her. Happy Mother's Day to me! (This weekend I plan to blog about some of the funny things Hannah has been doing and saying lately--she's a riot!)

On to the crazy night...

Sunday night, Hannah went to bed easily around 9pm, as usual. But then she woke up crying at 10:30pm and didn't go back go sleep until 4am. I think this would be unusual for most kids, but it was extremely unusual for Hannah. (She has always been a very good night sleeper.) We tried everything--rocking her, singing to her, finally giving her Tylenol in case she was in pain (which I'm now positive that she was), letting her lay in bed with us for an hour (for the first time), and finally just telling her to go get back in bed when she kept getting out of bed and running into our room. I wasn't able to sleep a wink until an hour after she did and then promptly woke up an hour later (for some reason I can almost never sleep past 6am anymore). Thankfully, Hannah slept in a couple of hours the next morning and then took a 3 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon. She was absolutely exhausted! That day she miraculously let me look in her mouth. It turns out that since she went to the dentist in February, she has been teething up a storm. One of her 2-year-old molars is completely in, one is half-in, one has just broken through, and the other is about to poke through. Crazy-night mystery solved. She has been sleeping much better with the occasional help of Tylenol. And now she's back to her usual morning routine--yelling "Daddy! Daddy!!! I'm awake. Come get me!" and then waiting for Scott to go get her. Silly cutie. She's been a total Daddy's girl lately. :)

I hope all you moms, grandmas, aunts, and sisters had a fabulous Mother's Day!

road trip to Vegas

This past weekend we took a fun road trip to Las Vegas to attend Scott's niece's baptism. We arrived Friday night and stayed with Tyler, Kristie, and their cute baby. Saturday morning was Megan's baptism...

Lots of the Carter fam made it down for the baptism.

Megan and her family.

Hannah thoroughly enjoyed playing with her cousins (and their toys) all day on Saturday.

These cute cousins were all wearing matchy plaid shorts.

A Sunday morning snapshot of Hannah with her cousins Joshua (both a 2nd and a 4th cousin) and Logan (1st cousin).  Cute kids!

Hannah also loved playing briefly with her Nielsen cousins in St. George on our way home on Sunday.

Viva Las Vegas, baby! And congratulations to beautiful Megan!

Pics to go with previous post

Apparently, the trick is to let my computer work all night on downloading pictures to my blog. Lame, but at least I have some pics now.

Cole with his Superman car. He's looking way too old to me lately.

Clay with his Kung Fu Panda car. Gotta love those dimples.

Faith (aka awesome baby-sitter) with silly Hannah.

Hannah enjoying the UVU baseball game.

And a couple of bonus pics of Hannah in some awesome Cubs diapers, courtesy of John & Megan and Di & Sam...

They barely fit her, so we are saving them for our lucky little Cubs-fan-to -be.

Go Cubbies!

That last pic reminds me to let you all know that Hannah gets to have minor surgery on the umbilical hernia that she's had since birth. We found out for sure when we took her in for a double ear infection yesterday. We're going to wait until later this year. Good times.
